Michael Jackson will be laid to rest today in one of the most famous cemeteries in Los Angeles, but the questions over his death will not be buried with him
His remains will be interred in the Great Mausoleum on a hillside in the Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, barely a mile from a huge wildfire still burning in Angeles National Forest. Family and friends are due to attend the private evening service with onlookers and the media being kept at bay. An exclusion zone has been set up around the 300-acre park, where Hollywood stars including Clark Gable, Carole Lombard and Jean Harlow are also buried. Richard Vonk, who has worked at Glendale Florist across the street from Forest Lawn for more than half a century, said the preparations dwarf those he has witnessed for other celebrities.
